This collaboration aims to elevate the overall experience for Softball Canada’s members and elevate the sport through cutting-edge streaming capabilities.
During the initial phase of this partnership, Softball Canada’s National Governing Body will leverage SportsEngine’s video tools to live stream the highly anticipated Canadian Championships. This exciting development will offer softball enthusiasts live streaming, video on-demand, and game highlights, providing a more immersive and engaging experience. The Canadian Championships represent a significant milestone in the careers of countless athletes and serve as a prominent high-performance pathway.
The streaming services will encompass a wide range of competition categories, including Men’s and Women’s Fast Pitch (U15 through Masters) and Slo-Pitch (Men’s and Women’s). Fans will have access to these games through the Softball Canada website and a new video destination on SportsEngine.
Brett MacKinnon, SVP & General Manager, Youth & Recreational Sports at NBC Sports Next, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the shared commitment to expanding the reach of softball. Looking ahead, the partnership will involve the development of a digital network by SportsEngine in early 2024. This network will empower Softball Canada to deliver valuable content to its extensive network of over 10,000 teams, 500 registered leagues, and more than 1,500 administrators, coaches, and officials. Additionally, a membership platform will be implemented organization-wide to streamline team registration, manage player profiles, coordinate events, and facilitate payment processing.
With NBC Sports Next’s suite of solutions, which are trusted by over 35,000 small and medium-sized youth sports organizations, tournaments, professional sports leagues, and municipalities, the administrative burden will be significantly reduced, enabling organizations to allocate more time and resources to athlete development.
